Student Financial Aid
The Office of Student Financial Aid provides education, guidance, and support to students and families throughout the financial aid process. We administer federal, state, and institutional aid programs to students at East Carolina University, the Brody School of Medicine, and the School of Dental Medicine.

The FAFSA is available beginning October 1. We encourage you to file your FAFSA online as soon as possible to avoid errors and ensure faster processing.
ECU’s priority FAFSA deadline is March 1.
Announcements
18 August 2025: For anyone receiving the Next NC Scholarship fund, those monies will be held until after the fifth day of class, once enrolled hours have been certified with the state education authority. Once enrolled hours are confirmed and certified, funds will be released to the Cashier’s Office to apply to the student account or be released to the student as appropriate.

11 September: Course Program of Study (CPOS):
Course Program of Study (CPOS) is a U.S. Department of Education requirement that only considers courses counting toward a student’s program of study for financial aid eligibility. This federal requirement is not new but is monitored at ECU through a reporting process beginning with Spring 2024 registration.
Federal financial aid is only awarded for courses included in your program of study.
